how can i get my 2 yr old to use her puffer?

All kids 3 and under hate their MDI or Nebulizer treatments.
The key is positive reinforcement. If we sit here and do your inhaler, we get a piece of candy. Something along those lines, it works wonders.

If all else fails, It turns into a two person job, one person holds her down, the other gives the meds. If she needs it, it has to be done.With our son he hated puffers. He SCREAMED. My hubby works late so I had to hold my son done on my own and do it, it was a mission. I had to give him the meds or we would be at the ER so it is the priority. Then I started counting with him and breathing with him. I also encouraged him to look and play with the spacer. It slowly got better. If it is really bad I would use a reward like before mentioned but if they have it regularly choose the reward wisely.

I know what you mean, it is hard to put them throught the trauma but it is necessary.

goodluckHi I am an experinced mom in this area my son has asthma. I made it into a game! Like count to ten when the spacer was there and then yell and clap yeah you did it! Or get a treat like a small candy that is a reward! Let her help you. Tell her you need her to hold it and be big because you need her help. As far as it hurting her if she is crying no not really because she is inhaling deeper so getting more of the medicine and she will out grow it and get used to it. If you have a spacer and inhauler you could put some stickers of Dora or whatever she likes on the outside so it would make her feel like it was ok! Hope this helps.
