House Fire - Ridgecrest, CA
RIDGECREST, CA - Kern County firefighters and Ridgecrest police responded shortly after 4 PM Saturday afternoon to a structure fire in the 400 block of East Dana Avenue near College Heights in Ridgecrest. Firefighters arrived to find the 1800 square foot single story structure approximately 50% involved in flames. Firefighters from the Naval Air Weapons Station at China Lake were also called in to assist with the blaze. According to neighbors, the homeowners were away for a weekend at the lake when the fire broke out. Firefighters managed to save nearly 0000 in property with an estimated loss of 0000 to the structure. No injuries were reported, although a dog did perish in the fire authorities said. The cause of the fire is under investigation. July 30, 2011
